Privacy policy

This notice explains how we handle personal data when you visit theonyxaura.com, email us, buy our printables on Etsy, buy our books on Amazon or use our apps. The short version: this website does not use cookies, analytics, advertising trackers or embedded social media, and it has no forms or accounts. Our apps send us no personal data.

Who is responsible

The Onyx & Aura is a brand, not a company. Two different data controllers are responsible, depending on what you use. In this notice “we” means the one responsible for the activity being described.

Website, email, Etsy and Amazon. theonyxaura.com, our email address, our Etsy shop and our books on Amazon are run by Emre As, an individual, under the name The Onyx & Aura. Emre As is the data controller for this website, email, our Etsy shop and our books on Amazon.

Mobile apps. Our apps (Onyx & Aura Puzzles and Onyx & Aura Open House) are published on the App Store and Google Play by the company below, which is the data controller for the mobile apps (Onyx & Aura Puzzles and Onyx & Aura Open House) and their in-app purchase records only.

What we collect and why

Visiting this website

Server logs. Like every web server, ours records technical data for each request (IP address, browser type, page requested, date and time). We use these logs only to keep the site secure and working, and they are deleted automatically within 30 days. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running a secure website (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).

No cookies, analytics or trackers. The website sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser. It has no analytics, advertising or social media scripts, and its fonts and images are served from our own server, so visiting it does not send data to third parties. The playable sudoku on the home page runs only in your browser: nothing you type is stored or sent anywhere.

Hosting. The website is hosted on a server in Germany (European Union). Our hosting provider processes the server logs on our behalf.

Email

If you write to hello@theonyxaura.com, we use your address and message only to reply to you, and we do not add you to any mailing list. Legal basis: taking steps you ask for or performing a contract with you, for example about an order (Art. 6(1)(b)), and otherwise our legitimate interest in answering messages (Art. 6(1)(f)). We keep emails as long as needed to deal with your request and any follow-up, and longer only where the law requires us to keep business records.

Orders on Etsy

We do not sell anything directly on this website. Printables are sold on Etsy. When you buy from our Etsy shop, Etsy shares with us only what is needed to deliver your order, as described in our Etsy shop’s privacy policy: for example your name, your email or shipping details, what you ordered and any messages you send us through Etsy.

We use these details to fulfil your order, answer your questions and keep the records that tax and commercial law require. Legal bases: performing the contract with you (Art. 6(1)(b)) and complying with legal obligations (Art. 6(1)(c)). We do not use them for marketing. Etsy’s own processing is covered by Etsy’s privacy policy.

Books on Amazon

Our paperback and Kindle books are sold by Amazon, which handles the whole purchase. We receive no personal data about the customers who buy them. Amazon’s processing is covered by Amazon’s privacy notice.

Our apps

Responsible: 16X9 Film Yapım Bilişim San. ve Tic. A.Ş.. Onyx & Aura Puzzles collects no personal data. It has no accounts, no ads and no analytics or tracking; settings and puzzles stay on your phone; and purchases are handled entirely by Apple or Google. We never receive card or payment details. Apple and Google may show us basic order records (such as an order number, date, country and amount, and on Google Play possibly the buyer’s name), which we use only for refunds, support and accounting. Details are in the app privacy policy.

Onyx & Aura Open House is a sign-in tool for real estate agents. The details visitors enter at an open house are stored only on the agent’s device and never reach us: the app sends nothing to a server of ours, and we have no access to them. The agent who gathers them is responsible for them, and visitors should contact that agent about their details. The app has no accounts, no ads and no analytics or tracking. Links to other sites

Buttons such as “Buy on Etsy” and links to Amazon and Pinterest take you to those sites, where their own privacy policies apply.

Who receives data

We do not sell personal data or share it for advertising. Data is processed by our web and email hosting providers on our behalf, and by Etsy, Amazon, Apple and Google for purchases made on their platforms, under their own policies. We may disclose data to public authorities when the law requires it.

International transfers

We are based in Türkiye, and our website server is in Germany (European Union), so server logs are stored outside Türkiye. Etsy, Amazon, Apple and Google may process data in other countries, including the United States, outside Türkiye and the European Economic Area; their privacy policies explain how they protect such transfers. Transfers abroad from Türkiye are subject to Article 9 of the Turkish Personal Data Protection Law (KVKK), and transfers from the European Economic Area to Chapter V of the GDPR.

How long we keep data

• Server logs: deleted automatically within 30 days.
• Emails: as long as needed to deal with your request, then only as long as the law requires.
• Etsy order details: as long as needed for the order and for the periods required by tax and commercial law.
• App order records shown to the app publisher by Apple or Google: as long as needed for refunds and support, and for the periods required by tax and commercial law.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the EU GDPR, UK GDPR or California privacy laws), you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, to restrict or object to its use, and to receive it in a portable format. Under Article 11 of the Turkish KVKK you can also ask whether your data is processed, why, and to whom it was transferred, and claim compensation for damage caused by unlawful processing; see our KVKK Aydınlatma Metni (in Turkish) for the full list.

How to use your rights. Email hello@theonyxaura.com. For the apps you can also write to the company address above. We may ask you to confirm your identity. Since we hold almost nothing, most requests are quick: we will answer within 30 days, free of charge.

Complaints. You can complain to the Turkish Personal Data Protection Authority (KVKK), or to your local data protection authority, such as the supervisory authority in your EU country.

Children

This website is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. Our app is suitable for all ages and collects no personal data from anyone.

If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. See also our terms of use.
